Incident at Stockholm-Arlanda Airport

Investigated by: India

A Boeing 787 operated by Air India landed at Stockholm-Arlanda Airport and received clearance to gate 28R. However, the aircraft was taxied in the direction of gate 28L. When the crew noticed the situation, it was decided to turn right to connect to the correct gate. In connection with the turn, the aircraft's left wing tip collided with a building.

SHK classified the occurrence as an incident and decided not to investigate it. Nevertheless, the authorities of India decided to investigate the incident.

SHK initially appointed an accredited representative to assist the investigation.

It has subsequently been made clear that the investigation is not being carried out by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau of India. The investigation is instead carried out by the Indian Aviation Authority (Directorate General of Civil Aviation). SHK has stated that in such circumstances, the international provisions of Annex 13 to the Chicago Convention do not apply. The relevant authorities and organizations in Sweden can voluntarily contribute to the investigation, but SHK has no legal basis to require that they submit information to the Indian Aviation Authority. SHK has subsequently closed the case.
