Incident with an aircraft ot the model Saab 340 near Carlisle Airport (UK)
During climb from Carlisle Airport (CAX) and while adjusting climb power it was noticed that the RPM of the left propeller was low. Attempts to readjust the RPM were not successful. The flight crew then attempted to shutdown the left engine but the condition lever had snapped. The crew therefore used the left engine fire handle to shut down the engine. The crew performed a successful landing with one engine. No injuries occurred. The incident is being investigated by the Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB), UK. SHK has appointed Mr Gideon Singer as accredited representative.
