Serious incident south of Borås with the glider SE-UUL of the model Lak-17 AT

Due to headwind and sinking air, the glider pilot could not reach the intended airport and decided instead to make an outlanding at an alternative field. Because of continuing problems with sinking air the pilot decided at a height of 350-400 meters to start the engine, but it failed to start. He then realized that the alternative field could not be reached and he was forced to make a landing on a major road. In connection with the forced landing, the lower part of the glider collided with the roof top of a car and the left wingtip struck another road vehicle. The pilot steered down into the ditch beside the road and the glider stopped against a road sign post. The incident only led to minor damage to the glider and the involved vehicles. According to the information available no person was physically injured.
