Serious incident involving a Boeing 737 MAX 8 at Umeå Airport on

A Boeing 737 MAX 8 commenced its take-off from a different intersection than the one used for the take-off performance calculations. Consequently, the available take-off distance was shorter than that considered in the calculations.

The aircraft became airborne approximately 500 metres before the end of the runway and crossed it at a height of approximately 70 feet. The occurrence is classified as a serious incident, as there were limited remaining safety defences between the occurrence and a potential accident.
