The fishing vessel IDUN – loss of ship outside Tjörn

The fishing vessel IDUN was fishing an hour from Tjörn when the master discovered that one of the engine compartments was flooded. The master started the bilge pump and set course towards the coast using the other engine at full speed ahead. During the voyage, the Swedish Sea Rescue Society (SSRS) was alerted and they sent a ship to assist the master. The flooding of the vessel continued despite the attempts to drain it the with the vessel's bilge pump and with the pumps of SSRS. IDUN eventually turned over and sank. At that time, the master had safely embarked the ship of SSRS.
