Avalanche accident in connection with heliskiing activities near Abisko

On the afternoon of March 20, a guided group of skiers where to conduct a heli-ski run near Abisko. The avalanche forecast was a three on a five-point scale. At the end of the run, an avalanche was triggered.

The guide was hit by the avalanche and two of the skiers got buried under the snow. The helicopter was also partially hit by the snow. The two skiers where fatally injured. The guide and one person in the helicopter were injured. The attachment to the tail boom of the helicopter was damaged.
